Art
Randy Reid ’87, M.S. ’91, M.F.A. ’96
Randy Reid earned a bachelor's and multiple master's degrees from Illinois State focusing in metal and wood. He has taught in various capacities for over 30 years, including a 2019 stint teaching 3-D Fundamentals in Art in China. After retiring from Illinois State University in 2023, Randy continued his teaching career at Millikin University.
Randy’s teaching career features numerous public commissions, including bronze castings by Harold Boyd at the CIRA Airport, multiple Reggie Redbird busts across campus, and the Founders’ Day Bell. He received the Outstanding Teacher Initiative Award in 2014. His artwork has been recognized in numerous juried exhibitions, earning Best in Show in an international exhibition in 2014, and participating in three SOFA exhibitions between 2015 and 2018. Randy continues to produce artwork and relishes the process of being a maker.
Randy received the 2025 Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts Alumni Educator Award.
Creative Technologies
Mojde Kalantari, M.S. ’24
Mojde is a multidisciplinary media artist and researcher whose work bridges digital storytelling, health, and technology. Her projects explore mental health through virtual reality and serious games. Mojde holds an master's in creative technologies from Illinois State University and a master's in theatre directing from the University of Tehran. Her works have received several awards for their creativity and social impact.
Currently, she is pursuing a doctorate in digital media at York University, Canada, where she is developing groundbreaking experiences that integrate art, mental health, cancer survivorship, and technology.
Mojde received the 2025 Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts Charles W. Bolen Pathforger Alumni Award.
Music
Sharon Huff ’82
Sharon is a distinguished music educator, conductor, and international leader in the brass community. She earned her bachelor's from Illinois State, where she was honored as a Bone Scholar, and later completed both her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of Illinois. Now retired from university teaching, Sharon held faculty positions at Millikin University, Illinois State University, and St. Norbert College near Green Bay, Wisconsin. Her teaching portfolio spanned humanities, music literature, and music education, reflecting her broad expertise and commitment to interdisciplinary learning.
Sharon has also held numerous leadership roles in international music organizations. She served the International Women’s Brass Conference (IWBC) as executive director, president, treasurer, and two-time conference co-host. She also contributed globally as conferences coordinator for the International Tuba Euphonium Association (ITEA), helping organize events across multiple continents. As a clinician, conductor, adjudicator, and soloist, she has performed and led ensembles throughout the Midwestern and Eastern United States, as well as in Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Italy, Finland, Germany, and Austria. She has adjudicated prestigious competitions, including the Falcone Solo Euphonium Competition, Gateway Brass Band Championship, and the ITEA and IWBC Solo and Composition Competitions.
Sharon has been honored to perform with Monarch Brass and has appeared as a soloist and conductor with the Athena Brass Band. She has also guest-conducted the Monarch Brass Ensemble at ITG and IWBC events, as well as the Michigan Monarch Brass Ensemble in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Since 2007, she has served as music director of the Brass Band of Central Illinois, and she continues to share her musical gifts as choir director at the First Baptist Church of Bloomington.
Sharon received the 2025 Wonsook Kim College of Fine Arts Alumni Innovator Award.
